Bash Kpoppers who solely stan one gender

Heated discussions about k-pop idols and groups. Not for the weak!

One thing I don't get with some fans of kpop is how they'd say something like: "I only care about/listen to boy/girl-groups.
If you only care about boy-groups or only about girl-groups then I will silently judge you because in my eyes you're either:

- Having the philosphy that looks >>> talent and hence only stan groups whose members are of that gender you're attracted to.
- Not giving the other gender's groups a chance.

I get that some people for example just don't like that a lot of girl-groups do sexy concepts and they may not like that in general but completely blocking half of the music just because of the gender is so wtf to me I just can't seem to understand how they think.
If you like a certain girl-groups songs then there's a very high chance that you'll like a boy-groups songs with a similar style if you gave it a shot.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's totally fine to only stan one gender/to not like the other one's music in general, but completely blocking the other out is a bit weird imo.

I only care for a couple of girl groups because they all copy themselves and Japanese ones. So why should I care? (PS: it's the same for boys).

What I don't like is when kpopers try to throw girl groups down my throat just because they don't get as much attention, while bashing boy groups. Oh the hypocrisy...

Yeah, I get that but my point was people who completely ignore and refuse to belive that there's good things by groups of one gender (which I haven't seen you done)

Personally I've been someone who avoided girl groups for a lot of time.
Then 2NE1 happened. And Orange Caramel.

I don't like most girl groups' music, outfit, concepts and singers. They are often too much one like the other and not really special.
With boy group is the same, and that's why I only watch some idols, because then I get bored.

For example there are tons of young boy groups better than the SM ones, probably even of SHINee, but I'm lazy and I don't care enough about kpop music in general to look for them. Sometimes I stumble upon some boy group and realize just how unfair the market is, but Key is in SHINee, Tao e D.O. are in EXO and I have all my SuJu biases.

I tend to prefer watching boygroup because even when the music is bad or boring they have more enjoyable choreographies (EXO's Wolf, horrible music, awesome dance I even watched it with mute on).
With girl groupsI often can't stand the music nor the choreo. It can be alluring, but I prefer to watch something cool (2PM, GOT7, Amber, BoA). For this reason I don't really like Big Bang. They have little choreo, and they're not my kind of music. Their music has more quality than a lot of other boring kpop idolish music, but it's not what I'm interested in. While I LOVE GD. And for his music. Nothing like 'Oppa have my babies', that would be BoA if any. Ops, but that can't really happen.

BoA was cool, I suspect she's trying to modify her image, but she was a very cool performer, more classy, powerful and interesting than a lot of doll like, all cute and dumb/innocent girl groups.

All in all I think girl groups tend to rely more than boy group on image and miniskirts or outfits. Boys too do it, but they do it being cool. In girl groups I'm sure a lot of them can be very cool, entertaining and charming, but I often get bored because they have to behave. Too powerful? You're acting like a man. Too straightforward? Same. Mini skirt? You're so feminine, national sister, role model of the doll like girl. And it makes me mad, because they train a lot, with different kind of music, dance styles... and then all they do is swaing hips, making eyes, and sensual hands/arms gestures. (Let them) DANCE FOR REAL!

Also and this is something I finally understand, older idols, and especially male older idols, are more free to be less idol-ish, and that's why I have a thing for older idols (including Hyori, she's great!).
It's ok, idol world is full of plastic, figurative and for real, but among all the bad music and not really great singers I'd rather have fun and care for the few people I really like as performer or artists.

I used to be one to dislike all girlgroups simply because they were girl groups. It's mainly because I hardly ever like female voices when it comes to singing. I'm more attracted to a male voice singing than a female voice (not sexually, but you know what I mean). And then there was the thing where almost all girlgroups were the same (which they are now too....). I disliked the over the top fake cuteness or them trying too hard to be sexy when it's really just awkward as hell.
Eventually a friend got me into 2NE1. I really got into their music and style because it was different from the other girl groups. And I liked their confidence and what they stood for, and the music just appealed to me a lot.
Later on I started liking some songs by T-ara, and a few random songs by random artists, so I grew into it more but I still dislike the majority of girlgroups because they are girlgroups and they're pretty much all the same. The dances, the songs, their faces, everything seems similar, and since there's hardly any originality I just give up on them.

For guy groups, I know you're thinking, that's the same thing and I agree. A lot of guy groups (especially new ones) are all similar in concepts, voices, faces and dances. Which is exactly why I automatically dislike all new groups. They just don't do it for me. I listen to older groups, and I'm very VERY protective of those. I only stan a few groups (girl and boys) because I don't care for any of the new ones. I know it's nt fair to not give them a chance, but with so many new groups around, nobody can give them all a chance. Companies are just bombing us with new groups and nobody is waiting for new groups anymore. Most want to get used to what is out there now, and since there's so many new ones, people tend to stick to what they know which is why new groups don't get so popular.

I just don't have the same interest in Male groups in comparison with Girl groups. IDK why.

I'm kinda like that too. I like girl groups slightly more than male groups but maybe they just appeal to us more?

Literally all of this!

I have known people who blatantly stan one set or the other without giving the other gender a chance just because of their gender which is slightly ridiculous. I understand that it can be different with biasing for some people though. Nowadays, I'll listen to a new group boy or girl and just pass because nothing will stand out about them so I just stick to my faves and continue about my day :)

Meh, if that is how they feel then that is how they feel. But it also happens with companies and old-vs-new groups (see above).

Just gotta remind them that they aren't special because they only bias one group/gender/company/non-nugus. Just pretentious.
