We’ve come back after a long time, ending our hiatus of several months. Our current song and concept is the complete opposite of anything we’ve shown before. We wondered whether or not many of our fans would be able to accept such a radical change (Laughs). But from what I’ve seen currently, it seems we’re getting a good response from fans. “The composer, Shinsadong Tiger-nim, treated us like his younger brothers so it was comfortable working with him. He encouraged us by telling us that we shouldn’t try to adapt to our changed concept too quickly and rather, it would be better to gradually adapt to it instead. But strangely enough, all six members agreed that they weren’t really greedy about ‘Justice.’ Instead of ‘whatever was trendy at the moment,’ C-CLOWN showed their strength by focusing on ‘what concept could be digested, what concept would they enjoy.’

“Through ‘Justice,’ we wanted people to see that C-CLOWN could really digest any sort of concept. Rather than just wanting to win first place, we want to be able to communicate as much as possible with fans while we’re promoting because we haven’t been out there for a long time. This may sound really cliché, but we will work our hardest to get to the place we want to be in. But if there was one thing we’re just a little greedy about, is that we want to have an official fan-club established (Laughs).” (Ray)

Of course, it’s not that they don’t have dreams. They want one day to become like SHINHWA, a group that most idol groups admire and a group that is well-known for their longevity as a group. Most recently in particular, the C-CLOWN members felt both envious and amazed, seeing SHINHWA member Lee Minwoo celebrating his 10th anniversary as a solo singer. As a result, C-CLOWN’s dream of becoming a ‘SHINHWA-like group’ won’t stop. Also, as the members were telling us their ‘ultimate goal,’ smiles all naturally spread across their faces.

“We want to make an album that only C-CLOWN has touched. We want to be able to show all aspects of an ‘artist.’ From the lyrics and the composition, to the choreography, styling, album jacket design, and marketing, these are all things the members dream of doing. Someday we’ll be able to achieve that dream (Laughs).” (Maru)

C-CLOWN, who shared their heartfelt aspirations, looked excited as they announced that they had something to say to the fans.

C-CLOWN, EXO, and VIXX all debuted around the same time. Compared to the other groups, C-CLOWN has been slower in advancement, but they are still truly grateful, “Even if it may take some time, we will rise up step by step.”

“In the future, it would be nice if people felt ‘They digest their concept well, I will look forward to them in the future, they’re luxurious’ when they saw our concept changes. The group C-CLOWN drawn much attention with their unique marketing strategy by personally handling their fans’ worries. Fans can actually participate in the current event by calling the phone number found in the intro portion of C-CLOWN’s recent song ‘Justice’ during their current promotions for their song. The phone number ‘010-8810-8615,’ is a direct line to C-CLOWN who will personally receive incoming calls. The members have transformed into counselors, earnestly sharing advice with callers. There is no limit to what issues can be advised on by the group. Friendship issues, career issues, dieting issues, family issues, etc., no matter that the issue, the members are there to talk with fans. Once this ‘service’ began on February 17th, the phone line has been ringing off the hook, with telephone conversations lasting a mere 20 seconds, showing just how much interest has been given to such an event. “It’s an honor to be able to show kindness to the many people that have called our advice hotline for their troubles,” C-CLOWN said.

To think idols directly give advice to their fans over their fans’ worries/troubles! It is not as easy as you can imagine. In addition to being able to hear their voices personally through your phone, there’s a certain charm in being able to have a conversation with them. As a result, 10ASIA personally tried it out.

First off, in order to get some kind of validation from C-CLOWN, the fact that it was a reporter on the other line was kept an absolute secret. 10ASIA found out beforehand when C-CLOWN was holding another ‘phone-call’ event for our ‘guerrilla spam-call.’ The reporter’s aim was C-CLOWN’s leader, Rome. Born in Australia, Rome has been swimming and surfing since he was a child. He boasts skills in sports and has learned dancing since he was born. He’s attracted much attention for the pictures released on his personal Twitter account of his ‘cacao’ abs and back muscles. As a result, the reporter decided to call C-CLOWN’s representative ‘best body,’ Rome, and ask him about his ‘spring diet method.’

Finally, the ‘click’ sound was heard on the reporter’s end. However, the voice the reporter heard over the phone was not C-CLOWN’s but instead the unfamiliar voice of a company official. Even though the reporter was embarrassed, she boldly exclaimed, “Hello. May I speak with Rome-oppa please!” The company official replied back, “Please wait a moment,” and the reporter was put on hold. Before long, the reporter was able to hear Rome’s pleasant voice.

The following is exactly what the reporter was able to transcribe down for her conversation with Rome.

Rome: Hello. This is C-CLOWN’s Rome.
Reporter: Oh, Ro..Ro..this is Rome-oppa? Hello. I didn’t realize you would really answer my phone call.
Rome: Ah, really? I would answer.
Reporter: I know you’re doing the event to listen to fans’ worries over the phone… Can we really tell you any of our worries no matter what?
Rome: You can really tell me your issues no matter what. Ah, and what is your name?
Reporter: It’s OOO.
Rome: Ah, OOO? That’s a pretty name.
Reporter: Thank you. (Laughs) Oppa is really well-known of his nice body. I’ve seen your ‘cacao’ abs many times on Instagram and Twitter (Rome: (Laughs)) Because spring is approaching, I am dieting to make my body nicer. Do you have any tips on exercising or a diet regimen for me?
Rome: The most important thing is to have a diet regimen. For me, controlling what I eat is the most difficult. Honestly speaking, if you’re a girl, as long as you control what you eat, I think you can also lose a lot of weight.
Reporter: Ah, really?
Rome: But if you’re like me and normally really enjoy exercising and are healthy, even if you eat a lot you won’t gain weight. If you exercise regularly then your metabolism is high so no matter what you eat, you won’t tend to gain weight. However, I heard most girls don’t enjoy exercising.
Reporter: That’s right. Exercising is hard. Then, Rome-oppa what sort of exercises do you do when you go the gym? If you don’t go to the gym, what sort of exercises do you do with the other members together in front of your home?
Rome: The members don’t exercise. Even if I force them to, the kids still won’t. In the words of the other members, they say I’m too brutal. Every day I wake up at either six or seven o’clock in the morning. Our dormitory, it’s…it’s…in the midst of mountains.
Reporter: Ah, you live in the mountains?
Rome: Yes~ Yes yes. We live on the edge of Seorae Village…
Reporter: Ah.. Seorae Village is a mountain?
Rome: Yes, but you can easily walk around here.
Reporter: Ah, then do you also not drink alcohol?
Rome: Ah, I’m not always like that.(Laughs) I really eat when I eat. It’s not like I totally banned greasy foods or alcohol and only exercise. Twice a week, I let myself eat whatever I want.
Reporter: So, for someone like me….
Rome: (He seemed embarrassed) Yes? It’s not bad to drink. I’m going to have a glass later. 허허허.
Reporter: Somehow, I think that if you want to take care of your body, you shouldn’t drink into excess.
Rome: Yes. Some people can be like that… But no, I think exercising is the best.

Honestly, the reporter’s issue was not really resolved. For an effective diet, I wanted tips on what to eat and an exercise regimen but my solution was to the permanent truth when it comes to an effective diet: ‘to eat less and exercise harder.’ However, facts like Rome’s lifestyle, where C-CLOWN lived as well as how in real life the other C-CLOWN members did not not exercise were all revealed through the reporter’s ‘interview.’

However, the reporter did find that calling C-CLOWN’s telephone would grant callers a consultation for their problems. Unlike a consultation with a telemarketer, where you needed to be swift with your conversation, the members sincerely listened to fans during the conversation and gave the proper advice for fans’ worries. In addition, the first thing they ask is the caller’s name and their affection/concern for the caller could be felt through the phone when they said the caller’s name.

According to officials at C-CLOWN’s company, YEDANG Entertainment, “We really get phone calls from a variety of different people. Even though we can’t reveal their exact stories, it’s not just those in their teens or twenties that are the fans that call but even the people from the general public in their thirties to fifties, people regardless of age or gender would call to discuss various issues. We would get stories on gambling, adultery, school violence, etc. We even recently got an international call from the Arabs.”

For C-CLOWN, this is not just a simple hotline event that they are planning to wrap up. C-CLOWN will personally visit a caller and perform for them. They will choose the person based on all the stories they’ve received in a lottery. They not only want to receive love from the fans but they also want to directly give love back to the fans as well. Further on, they are also catching attention for their efforts as an idol group that wants to have a positive impact and influence on society. Officials state, “Even if we cannot directly help solve the problem, I think we will still personally visit through an event with the fans. Even if the hero/heroine of the winning lottery story is in Jeju Island. We will still come visit.”

C-CLOWN is planning on continuing with their hotline consultation event for as long as their ‘Justice’ promotional period lasts.

C-Clown Becomes Ambassadors for Escorting Service for Women
they even danced Justice in suits








The C-Clown members attended the ceremony on March 24 at Seoul City Hall to be appointed as the new honorary ambassadors for the escorting service provided for women going home alone at night.

An affiliate of the escorting service stated, “The reason we chose C-Clown was because its new album Justice has the concept that matches the purpose and goal of our escorting service.”

The C-Clown members also said, “We feel a great sense of responsibility for being appointed as the honorary ambassadors representing Seoul Metropolitan Office.”

【3】 Favorite Japanese phrase is “Is that so~??” ?! (LOL) The difference between Korean and Japanese fans is?

– You came to Japan several times in 2013. What are your thoughts on Japan?

Siwoo: Last year was our first time coming to Japan. I was worried about whether the Japanese people would even know who we are, but the moment we stepped out into the airport, there were so many people there to welcome us. I was so touched and thankful. It felt somewhat strange.
Maru: We’ve done almost no promotions in Japan, so it was really strange. During our concert, the fans sang along with us and also came to see us at the airport. It was so strange, yet I was thankful.. like our songs have this kind of widespread attraction already?
Rome: For me too, I experienced so many different things when coming to Japan for the first time. Especially during our concert, there were so many fans who came. After seeing that, I felt that becoming a singer was definitely worth it. I’m thankful to be able to feel this again here in Japan.
Ray: For me… since everyone talked about our performances, I’ll mention the food in Japan. It’s so delicious! What is it called? The chicken wings…

– “Tebasaki?” (chicken wings)

Ray: Ah, tebasaki! That’s it! Tebasaki is so delicious I ate just only that. The next time we go I want to eat a lot more delicious food.
Kang Jun: When the fans came to watch our performance, they were all so orderly.
Maru: And that’s different from the Korean fans?
Kang Jun: No, not like that, I was just really surprised. Even afterwards as they were all leaving, there was no trash anywhere, it was so clean.
TK: During our first time going to Japan, we hadn’t done any kind of Japanese promotions before then, so I thought the fans wouldn’t really know us, but while we were performing our song “Solo,” they were so many placards being held up and they all sang along with us the whole time. I was so touched.

TK: I got it! Korean fans (when they come into contact with Kang Jun) they’ll scream “Jun-ah, Jun-ah!,” but Japanese fans they’ll react like this *takes step back, brings his hands to his mouth, and in a high pitched voice* and say “Jun-san?”

Ray: Personally, Rwanda. The reason for that is for the first time we actually have a fanclub in Rwanda. The verification photo is really interesting. They took a picture on top of a statue. If we go there, I think we could also climb the statue. So that’s why I’d like to go.
