steeze Now, before I start there will be some who do not know what this issue is composed off. This is the wikipedia link where you can click your respective country, however, it must be made clear I will be discussing affirmative action as it relates to American universities.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action

Let's get the ball rolling. To start, affirmative action has become a major issue in the United State in the past 30, or so years. It's initial purpose was to create equality, but if anything it has done just the opposite. What I mean of course is the disproportionate level of African Americans in Universities these days, especially Ivy Leagues such as Penn and Cornell. Now, there is massive preference towards African Americans applying to Ivy Leagues, so much that better, more fit Jews and Asians are denied because the school needs to "fill their black quota." It has become a massive problem at the majority of universities. We need to first look at the effects of such a program.

The major problem stems from two things: the lack of equality created and the unfair advantage it gives to African Americans. The 'equality' it creates is merely artificial, and serves to only hold African Americans back. What tends to happen is African Americans apply and are accepted, but they generally come from crappy school district and therefore cannot handle the work load and do not have the intelligence required to be in the university. I have seen this first hand. Another problem is that "African Americans" are generally avoided. Majority of the time these universities fill these "black quotas" by accepting wealthy nigerian/kenyan/african children from over seas as well as accepting half-black students. Half black students generally can handle the work load because the heavy majority of those half black students come from wealthy private schools. The Nigerians and Kenyans, however tend to not increase the social atmosphere of the university due to their seclusive nature and cliques that they form. The prime example of colleges accepting these types of students is in our very own president, Barack Obama, who is not only Half-Black raised in a wealthy white environment, but also Kenyan blood. The only reason he excelled were those combined factors. If he was "ghetto black" like some students, he would have not been successful at these universities. You can claim they are just as competent, but the fact remains that American public schools have such inferior education to that of private schools (hence why schools like Penn accept mainly private school children), or wealthy white/asian public schools. African Americans are severely under educated and therefore not competent enough to handle these Ivy League level institutions. The American education problem aside, it is simply a fact that African Americans are not equip with the tools that students of Asian, Jewish, Middle Eastern, Indian, or White natures are equipped with.

Another problem with the equality it creates is that it is not true equality. Equality should be gained through natural means. You should not unfairly promote African Americans into schools they can't fit in just because you feel bad because of the civil rights movement. American, unlike every country in the world, actually feels sad over their history. How stupid that is aside, African American's are no more deserving than harder working Jews and Asians. Why should someone with better SATs, stronger GPA, and a multitude of extracurricular be denied over someone who puts on their application "my skin looks like a burnt log." It's simply not fair. More deserving students should get in. To add, the problem is ONLY BLACKS. Hispanics ARE NOT receiving more attention, nor are Jews, or those from the middle east. What demands that African American's get special attention and Hispanics and Jews are left in the dust? There are more African Americans in the country than there are Jews, or Hispanics, and leaving the true minorities behind is fundamentally wrong EVEN IF YOU ARE PRO AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. While I think no group should gain special attention through artificial means, the truth is that even if you support affirmative action you cannot truly believe it works. It does not work and is a terrible policy because Hispanics are ignored. Why? Because the blacks were slaves and had SUCH A VERY HARD TIME in America. Wow. That's not deserving or a nobel prize. Get the fuck over it and work for your position. Einstein didn't coast his way off the American system to become the most brilliant mind in modern history.

These problems cannot be overlooked, and are fundamental, unavoidable flaws in the system. It's perhaps the most useless system in the world. There are more issues such as blacks not being able to afford the schools and getting "I am a black" scholarships; something that has become very prevalent in the American education system. Minorities do not deserve scholarships because they are minorities. It is essentially reverse racism. It's completely unfair and destroys the competitive nature of schools. It dumbs down their levels for the African American students, and forces something on PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS. Cornell and Penn are especially bad with this, and are known for being "black favorable." All you need to do is apply with mediocre 3.5 GPAs and a shitty 1900 on the SAT and you are instantly in. 3.5 and 1900? Those are terrible grades and SATs. Anyone with below a 2100 shouldn't even be at a Ivy League unless they have a above 4.0 GPA and fantastic extracurriculars.

I would love to know what this is like in other countries, and get feedback from you guys on the issue, regardless of where you are from.

Thank you for reading, and as always, fuck you.

anyway, love who you love, enjoy what you like I dun care, just don't be a dick about it
those niggas that add tbh at the end of they sentence is more annoying imo

steeze Let Anjel have her trial moderating. She's contributed greatly to the community and if she wants to attempt at moderating a relatively easy position (as nothing is disastrous here), let her. It's quite immature and disrespectful to go on a tirade about someone who has never really done anything terrible to suggest otherwise.
I am getting sick of your shit Aerie. Read the fucking post, or shut the fuck up.
I read enough. I don't need to go through all of it to understand.

You're upset you didn't get the position and you feel like your rights are being removed. You're also being quite presumptuous. You see one thing and blow it completely out of the water. Honestly speaking, you're not fit to moderate this site. There's already quite a few who talk bad about you, and you're unwanted by staff on akp. That should tell you enough that you should probably stick to being a member.

If you're going to respond again about something that isn't related to that, I honestly wouldn't care. The moderating part is the only thing I'm bothering with.
cold blooded my nigga
